Recusant History
Henry VIII destroyed the religious orders: Queen Elizabeth established England as protestant. From about 1550 to 1850, Catholics in Britain were an underground church. From about 1820 the French Revolution and the workers from Ireland made the Church grow rapidly, at least until about 1960. This history is worth studying
This site is a partnership of societies and individuals with an interest in Catholic history in the British Isles since the Reformation.
