THE CATHOLIC ARCHIVES SOCIETY was founded in 1979 to promote the care and preservation of records of dioceses, religious foundations, institutions and societies of the Roman Catholic Church in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland in order that they may be of administrative service to the
organisation they concern and may become accessible for academic research and cultural purposes.
THE SOCIETY seeks to attain these objectives by promoting the identification and listing of Catholic records, by providing those with responsibility for these records with information, technical advice and training opportunities, by arranging an annual conference, by publishing a yearly periodical, Catholic Archives, and by circulating a Bulletin to members. The Society does not hold any archive collections.
